John Randall “Randy” Hammons, age 56, passed away on November 18, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald E. Hammons, Sr and Geraldine Fennell Hammons; his maternal grandparents, W.G. “Bill” Fennell and Delores Fennell; and his paternal grandparents, Henry “Hank” Hammons and Juanita Hammons.

Randy is survived by his children, Jonathon (Katie) Hammons, Josh (Michelle) Hammons, Madison (Blake Bethel) Hammons, and William Hammons; his 3 brothers, Steven (Ida) Hammons, Keith (Krista) Hammons, Ronnie (Amy) Hammons, Jr; his grandchildren, Rhett, Addi Kate, Mia, and Livi Hammons; his wife of 27 years, Hope Hammons; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Long Beach and was a 1985 graduate of Long Beach High School and later received an associate’s degree from Jefferson Davis Junior College.  He served on the board of the Long Beach Port Commission and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4898.  He was a member and enjoyed attending mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach.  Randy enjoyed racing race cars, motorcycles, boating, traveling, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Leigh Anne Guin Bernard for being closer than a sister to Randy and for keeping up with him, side by side, in his fast paced world.  You have been there through all of his trials, tribulations, and long sufferings.  Y’all built some great, fond memories together.  You are a picture of what best friends really look like!  The family thanks you with much gratitude and appreciation.  We love you!

Visitation will be on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 1 – 2:30 pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 pm in the church.  Interment will be in Allen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach, MS 39560.
