John Walter Fuqua

John Walter Fuqua, age 45, passed away on October 9, 2025.

John was born on September 5, 1980 at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Cathey Brooks Cain; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Vice Brooks; his maternal grandfather, John C. Brooks, Sr; paternal grandmother, Ola Mae Morris; his paternal grandfather, Walter Lee Fuqua; a sister, Debbie Brooks; and his uncles, Robert Thielker, James Haveard, Carl Fuqua, and Thirl Fuqua.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth Fuqua; his father, Charles (Denise) E. Fuqua, Sr; his siblings, Janice (Sheldon) Moers, Audra (Mark) Smith, Petey (Amber) Overstreet, John Clifton (Melissa) Overstreet, and Charles (Deanna) Fuqua Jr; his uncle, Bo Brooks; his aunts, Kim Thielker, Diane Fuqua, and Frances Meyer; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John was raised in the Helena community and received his High School Diploma from the Camp Shelby Youth Challenge Program Hattiesburg, MS. He was self-employed and was the previous owner of Sunny Daze Tanning Salon and currently John Boy’s Lawn Service. John loved to tinker on anything with a motor. He loved fishing and he loved Animals. John was a Master Mason and a member of Moss Point Lodge 202.

The family would like to thank everyone for all the kindness we have been showered with the last few days. We are truly grateful.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery, Helena. Pallbearers will be Charles E. Fuqua III, Byran Jack Cooper, Brett Thielker, Matt Thielker, Bryce Wood, Zachary McDonald, Dewayne White, Clint George, and Frankie James.

The family will gather at Hurley Baptist Church following the graveside service for a meal and a time of fellowship.

The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd, West Jackson County, is serving the family.
