John Henry Crouch, III, age 76, of Long Beach, passed away on February 28, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Crouch, Jr., and his mother, Miriam W.T. Simmons.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ann. S. Crouch; 3 children, Karen Ann Ross, John Henry Crouch, IV, and James Taylor Crouch; and 3 grandchildren, Ray Henry Ross, John Paul Ross, and Emily Grace Ross.
Mr. Crouch was a native of Greenville, MS and a longtime resident of Long Beach. He earned a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1961, Masters of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Washington in 1963, and Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi in 1975. His career began with Boeing (1962-1973), Private practice as an attorney, Paceco, Inc. (1979-1989), Arkel International (1989-1990), and Ingalls Shipbuilding (1990-1992). Mr. Crouch received the "Silver Snoopy" Award for his work on the Apollo Moon missions, served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Space Law (1974-75), staff member of the Mississippi Law Journal, Commissioner Long Beach Water Management District (1983-92), Long Beach School Board President (1985-89), and President of the Harrison County Bar Association (2006).
He was an avid model railroader, and enjoyed volunteering at the Infinity Science Center. Also a writer, he authored several books, including The Monocacy Legacy, and When Saturn Hit the Moon: The Saturn V Lunar Impact Story. Mr. Crouch also coached women's softball in Long Beach and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Long Beach. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church of Long Beach, MS on Saturday, March 18, 2017, starting at 9:30 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
