John Joseph Chiniche, Jr., lovingly known as Big John, passed away on September 11, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was born on September 8, 1958, in Gulfport and was a lifelong resident of Long Beach, Mississippi.

John graduated from Long Beach High School and went on to work as an offshore boat captain. He built his life along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, a place that remained close to his heart through the years.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures that meant the most to him. John loved hunting, fishing, and trail riding, and he also enjoyed watching westerns and football. Some of his happiest times were spent cheering on his son, especially when he was playing and later coaching.

Above all, John will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a devoted family man. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Chiniche, and by his granddaughter, Reece Chiniche. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Long and her husband, Leon, as well as his niece, Dena, and his nephew, David. His family will hold close the many memories they shared with him and the steady presence he brought to their lives.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Chiniche; his mother, Audrey Chiniche; and his sister, Gloria.

Big John will be remembered with love for his strong ties to home, his enjoyment of the outdoors, and the pride he took in his family. His memory will live on in all who knew him.
