Jack Burger entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 10. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruth Gregg and Frank Burger and his brother Gregg Burger.
He is survived by Ann Burger his wife of 38 years, sons John (Lyn) Burger, Jeffrey Burger and daughter Tina Anselmo, his grandchildren Jennifer Burger, Caitlin (Marc) Burmaster, Alyse (Kyle) Gaudet, John Anselmo and Joseph Anselmo, and great grandson Philip Gaudet.
Prior to WW II he attended Washington and Lee University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. At the age of eighteen he entered the Merchant Marines and was accepted at the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point. He served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean in WWII and received his BS degree from the Academy. Then for a year and a half he sailed all over the world. Next he went to Cornell University where he received another degree.
Jack worked for The United Fruit Company and then Kansas Marine Supply.
He enjoyed traveling, running, boating, golf, cooking and gardening. He is a member of Pass Christian Yacht Club and Pass Christian Golf Club.
Visitation will be from ten to eleven and a service of Christian burial will be at eleven at Trinity Episcopal Church in Pass Christian. Internment at Live Oak Cemetery will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Church, Pass Christian.
