CWO4 John D. Becker, U.S. Navy, Ret., age 86, of Long Beach, passed away on October 5, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Kwiatkowski Becker, an infant daughter, son-in-law, Ray Miller, and 2 sisters, Ruth Becker, and Dorothy Becker Altman.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary-Ann Becker Miller, and Ann-Marie Becker (Roy) Cassibry, a brother, William Becker, a sister, Muriel Becker, 3 grandchildren, Michael Joseph Cassibry, Kristina Marie Cassibry, and Breezi Miller Van Hercke, 5 great-grandchildren, Mya Van Hercke, Laela Marie Breitbarth, Atreyu Michael Breitbarth, Caleb Michael Cassibry, and Matthew Joseph Cassibry; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Kwiatkowski, and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Becker served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and Vietnam War and later retired after 30 years of service. He later retired from the City of Long Beach as Public Works Director. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 9, 2015, from 10 - 11 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 East Beach Blvd., Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in the church. Burial will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Humane Society of South MS.
