Joan Bowden Edwards Puckett

Joan Edwards Puckett passed away September 3, 2012, at the age of 75.
Joan was born October 8, 1936, in Gulfport, Mississippi, to Alfred and Martha Mestayer Bowden. She is preceded in death by her two husbands: Hudson Puckett and Roy Edwards, and her parents. Joan is survived by her three daughters: Kathy (Tommy) Moulton, Long Beach, MS; Julie (Curtis) Prescott, Gulfport, MS; Cindy Edwards, Atlanta, GA, her sister and brother-in-law: Mary and Jerry Bates of Diamondhead, MS; grandchildren: Zennie Moulton, Caleb Prescott, Olivia Prescott, and many more family members.
Joan graduated from Gulfport High School in 1954 and then Gulf Park College. Roy and Joan met through their jobs when Joan worked at Gulfport Chamber of Commerce and Roy at Marine Life. During their marriage they raised three girls and shared with them a life of many adventures. Later in life Joan discovered the joy of traveling - and continued to do so with Hudson, whom she met at St. Joseph's in Orange Grove - and then took care of until the time of his death. In addition to traveling Joan enjoyed birding, gardening, reading, her many friends, and participating in various volunteer endeavors. She took pleasure in her ""country lifestyle"" in Lyman.
We, along with Momma, have experienced God's abundant grace during these difficult months. The family would like to thank Dr. Allison Wall and Dr. Fred Pakron - along with the oncology staff at Memorial Hospital, for their loving care. We also thank the caregivers, her St. Joseph's family, and numerous others for their guidance and comfort.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Orange Grove, on Wednesday, September 5th, where friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 12290 Depew Road, Gulfport, MS, 39503.
