Joan C. Burger, age 84 of Gulfport passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
She was an Air Force veteran and retired from the federal government where she worked as a court reporter for the Department of Defense. Joan delighted in recounting her experiences while working at military bases in Germany, Spain, and Turkey. She enjoyed many years bowling with her friends in local leagues.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joaquin and Wilhelmena Gomes, who immigrated from Portugal, her two sisters, Emily and Pauline, and her brother Billy.
She is survived by her son, Paul Burger of San Antonio, TX and daughter Denise Burger-Garton (Kyle) of Sugar Land, TX; her grandchildren, Jeff Burger (Renonda) of Petal, Jason Burger of Lewisville, TX, and Emily Garton of Lewisville, TX; and her great-grandchildren, Annelise Burger and Breanna Burger.
A graveside service was held on February 19, 2016, at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, served the family.
