Jo Ann Kingman

JoAnn Kingman, age 56, died September 16, 2014 in Ocean Springs, MS. She was born and raised in Somerset, MA and was a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast for twenty-four years. She came to the Mississippi Gulf Coast with her spouse David when he was assigned by the US Air Force to serve at Keesler AFB. They decided to remain on the Gulf Coast upon completion of his military service,. During her association with the US Air Force, JoAnn actively volunteered in Family Service organizations receiving numerous accommodations and service awards. For the past fifteen years, JoAnn was employed as a secretary/with the law office of the Honorable Kay L. Wilkerson, Esq. JoAnn graduated from Somerset High School in 1976. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and a Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Ruth Pickering and a sister, Ruth Ann Wiley.
She is survived by her spouse David Kingman; a brother James Pickering and his spouse Rita of Denver, CO; three sisters Nancy Possinger and her spouse John of Berkley, MA; Susan Greenwood of Somerset, MA; and Joy Nowak and her spouse Joey of Chicago, IL.
JoAnn was an avid birdwatcher, enjoyed working in her garden, and was a supporter of the Humane Society of South MS.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 22, 2014, from 10:30 - 12:30 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd., Biloxi. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 in the funeral home chapel. Interment is at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
