Jo Evelyn Breland

Jo Evelyn Breland, 83, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Gulfport.

Jo was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and was a longtime resident of Gulfport. She retired from Walmart after many years of dedicated work.

She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family. Jo was a Godly woman. Although she was of the Pentecostal faith, she was a longtime member of Biloxi River Baptist Church, where she was loved by her church family. She loved her family very much and would do anything she could for them. She was a very dedicated, hard worker for most of her life.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Curtis Breland, and her parents, C.L. Breland and Azzie Breland.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia Sexton, Randy (Doris) Sexton, Carla McNeely, Harold Sexton, Stephen Sexton, Alice (Jeff) Schonewitz, and Elic (Tina) Breland; her brothers, Gene (Mary) Breland and Charles Breland; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 28, from 2:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. funeral service at Biloxi River Baptist Church. A meal for family and friends will follow the service.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
