Mr. Jimmy Lloyd Smith, age 76, died Monday, May 14, 2018, at home in Biloxi, MS. He was born October 3, 1941, in Memphis, TN to Nolan and Thelma Smith.
He is a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired in 1979 at the rank of SMSGT. His tours included Arkansas, Delaware, New York, Puerto Rico, and Mississippi. He had numerous temporary duty assignments, including Okinawa, Vietnam, and Germany. While in Puerto Rico, he served with the 53

Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, formerly an active unit. After his military career, he worked many years in marine construction, including Ingalls Shipbuilding, Bell Aerospace, and was ILS Director for Avondale Shipyard in Avondale, LA. He was later President and CEO of Coast Engineering and Logistics, providing engineering and logistics support for the U.S. Navy LCAC program.
He previously served in the D'Iberville Elementary PTA and D'Iberville High Band Boosters. He served with the North Biloxi Chamber of Commerce, and was active in the incorporation of D'Iberville.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn J. (Coffman) Smith.
He is survived by two sons, James Smith (Marilyn) of Brandon, MS, and Robert Smith (Alana) of Louisville, KY; two grandchildren, Brandon Smith (Marie) of Biloxi, MS, and Hailey Smith of Louisville, KY.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 12:30 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd., Biloxi, MS, with a visitation for family and friends from 11:30 AM until the service. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
