Jimmie Fortner

Mrs. Jimmie Lou Fortner, age 81 of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport.
She was born in Sumrall, MS, and a native of the Brooklyn and Janice communities, where she attended high school. She was a resident of Gulfport for 54 years. Jimmie loved watching television and reading.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband, Heldridge Fortner (whom she married in 1955); her parents, Lewis and Willie Mae McCardle; and her brother, Robert Eugene “Dale” McCardle.
She is survived by her sons, Russell Lee Fortner and Brandon Hill Fortner; her grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Fortner Cissell, Ivy Fortner Georges, Levi Fortner and Shelby Fortner Bergefurd; and great-grandchildren, Eden Reese Macke, Mary Denise Cissell, Lizzy Lynn Cissell, Regan Georges, John Georges, Joseph Georges, Adeline Jayne Fortner; and her brother, Gary Lewis McCardle.
She will truly be missed by her family.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 30, at Janice Cemetery, Perry County.
