Jewel R. Schroeder

Jewel Schroeder, age 101, of Biloxi, MS passed on to be with the Lord on November 20, 2014. Jewell was born in New Orleans, LA, on December 31, 1912, to Philip Mancuso and Josephine Couret.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; her husbands, Frances O'Gara, Elmer Schroeder; and a son, Frances O'Gara.
She is survived by a son, Joel O'Gara (Janice Kellner) of Minnesota, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by many, especially her loving and supportive friends, Fr. Bob McClanahan, of San Diego, CA; Pastor and friend, Fr. Paddy Mockler of Kiln, MS; and a very dedicated and endearing, longtime friend with a special love for her, Bob Leslie. Her extended family, Bill and Carolyn McClellan, Roy and Lori Nadeau, Jamie and Carol Rodgers with ""Tiny"" a loving furry friend, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus (Bob and Linda Zeller), Madeline Fleming, Elizabeth Blackmon, Gigi Gunter, Evelyn Floyd and her many other numerous friends, and care givers at Emeritus in Biloxi.
Jewel was a dedicated Air Force wife and spent many wonderful years cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean with tours of duty in Morocco, Puerto Rico, and many states of the USA. After her return to MS, she taught with the Head Start Program in the Saucier, MS area where she shared many fun memories while working with the young children. Jewel was a catholic parishioner at St. Joseph the Worker Chapel, aboard the NCBC, Gulfport, MS.
She loved animals, especially birds, cats and dogs. She won trophies in Ballroom Dancing and was a Camille and Katrina survivor.
There will be a visitation for family and friends at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m.
