Jessie Mae Hamrick, passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 77. Jessie was known for her good heart and unwavering kindness, particularly towards animals and children. Her warmth and generous spirit touched the lives of many.
As the proud owner of the “American Hero Sandwich Shop,” Jessie dedicated many years to providing delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere for her customers. Later, she contributed her efforts working at Winn-Dixie, where her friendly demeanor and commitment to serving others shone through.
Jessie was especially fond of the holidays, and cherished moments spent with family over bountiful meals. She had a love for watching birds and squirrels, spending afternoons in leisurely observation, and sharing these moments with her loved ones. Her home was a haven for numerous cats and dogs, reflecting her deep affection for animals.
Her hobbies included collecting various items and creating beautiful ceramic pieces. Watching TV shows provided her with leisure and entertainment.
Jessie was a woman of strong faith and a heart full of compassion, exemplified by her volunteer work at Bethel Free Clinic and her participation in community events hosted by the Lemoyne Baptist Church.
Jessie Mae Hamrick is survived by her loving daughters, Michell Hemingway and Alice Pankey. Son-in-law, Stephen Hemingway, She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: CJ Pankey, Amanda Anderson, Kolton Alexander, Haley Hemingway, and Kora Alexander. Great grandchildren: CeeJay Pankey and Dustin Pankey. Each of them carries the light of her spirit forward. Jessie’s memory will be cherished by her family and the many who had the privilege of knowing a remarkable woman.
