Jesse Eugene Hardy passed away on December 5th, 2015 at age 67 at the Gulf Coast VA Medical Facility in Biloxi, MS. Eugene was born August 28th, 1948 in Calhoun County, AL.
Eugene, as he was known to his family and friends in north Alabama, was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corp, serving in the Vietnam War in the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Division and fought during the Tet Offensive of 1968 near Hue City and the Khe Sanh region. He received a Purple Heart for valor in combat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Denman and Minnie Juanita Hardy.
Survivors include: wife Vicky Hardy of Crowder, MS, daughter Rebecca Rose Hardy of Bartlesville, OK, sisters Charlene Hardy and Beverly Shultz, brothers Larry and Wayne Hardy. Nephews are Jamie Hardy, Chad Allen and Shaun Allen.
Eugene was born with a love for the open road, having visited every state in the Union save one. His favorite region was the Gulf Coast, particularly the towns of Bayou La Batre and Coden. He worked extensively in the offshore oil industry and was a certified pipe-fitter. He enjoyed classic movies, good story-telling, simple southern cooking and was, indeed, a very savvy traveler. Eugene had many friends in every corner of the U.S. and he was deeply loved and will be missed by his family and friends in Alabama and Mississippi.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on December 28, 2015 at the Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Avenue, Biloxi, MS. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, is serving the family.
