Jerry Wayne Talton, a devoted husband, father, and cherished friend, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in Biloxi, Mississippi, at the age of 73. Born on June 5, 1951, in Sylacauga, Alabama, Jerry was a remarkable individual whose life reflected a commitment to family, his country, and his community.

Jerry was a proud graduate in 1969 of B.B. Comer High School, where he made his mark as a member of the 1968 State Champion Basketball Team. His dedication and leadership were evident from an early age. Following his passion for service, Jerry joined the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served from 1972 to 1979, with postings in Korea and Germany, and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He earned numerous accolades for his service, including the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Sharp Shooter Medal.

In his professional life, Jerry found fulfillment in his career at John Fayard Moving, from which he eventually retired. Beyond his career, he cherished the happiness that came from his hobbies, particularly golfing and fishing. A lifelong fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Jerry spent many joyful hours cheering for his team. Jerry was of the Baptist faith. 

His memory is treasured by his loving wife of 17 years, Ledon Craft Talton. Jerry is survived by his son, Clay Talton and his wife Joni; his daughter, Bethany Talton; his step-daughter, Lacey Dubuisson and her husband Timothy; his brother, Edwin Talton and his wife Lillian; his sister, Carolyn McGrady and her husband Gary; his brother-in-law, Craig Craft & wife Mary; his step-granddaughter, Kayla Hardin and her husband Shane; his step-grandson, Seth Dubuisson; his granddaughter, Megan Talton Colley and her husband Cody; and his grandson, Tyler Talton. He also leaves behind two beloved great-grandchildren, Brynlee Harden and Waylon Colley, as well as his nieces, Lisa McClellan and her husband Tim, Susan Langley and her husband Robbie, Christy McGrady, and Karen Dennis and her husband Eric. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his great-nieces and great-nephews, Darren Langley, Payton Hayes and her husband Hunter, Ashleigh McClellan, and Elleigh-Quinn Autrey.

Jerry's life was a blessing, and his legacy will forever be honored by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Talton and Imogene Burks Talton.

A graveside service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Biloxi National Cemetery, 101 Memorial Drive, Biloxi, MS, beginning at 11:00 AM. His family invites all who knew him to join them in remembering his life and the joy he brought to so many. (please arrive at cemetery at 10:45 AM).

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. A heart of gold has stopped beating, gentle hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Leaves and flowers may wither, the sun may set, but the hearts that loved you dearly are the ones that won't forget.
