Jerry Eugene Mitchell

Jerry Eugene Mitchell, 75, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather of Woolmarket, MS, died November 30, 2013.
He was a native of Ponchatoula, Tangiphoa Parish, LA and had been a coastal resident since 1975. Mr. Mitchell was a Methodist, a graduate of LSU, receiving a degree in Landscape Architecture, and retired as Director of Coastal Ecology, Mississippi Department of Marine Resources in Biloxi.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Behrman Mitchell; his mother, Marjorie Elizabeth Edwards Mitchell and younger brother, Curtis Ronnie Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yvonne Ross Mitchell of Woolmarket; two brothers, Martin Behrman Mitchell of Houston, TX and Edward Milton Mitchell and spouse, Doris of Maurepas, LA; a daughter, Carol Anne Mitchell-Chavez and son-in-law, Joe Chavez, of Biloxi, MS; a son, Jerry (Jay) Brooks Mitchell and daughter-in-law, Roudy Ryerson Mitchell of Biloxi; five grandsons, Dustin Lanier McLean, Rex Lee Richie (Katelyn Marie Richie), Ross Behrman Mitchell, Tyler Brooks Mitchell and Luke Rivers Mitchell, all of Biloxi, Mississippi; three granddaughters, Jessica Elizabeth Jackson (Dean Jackson) of Ft. Riley, KS, Mallory Peyton Mitchell of Biloxi and Alyssa Rae Chavez of Starkville, MS; one great granddaughter, Aiden Elizabeth McLean of D'Iberville, MS; two brothers-in-law, Henry (Hank) Ross and Donald Lee and three sisters-in-law June Ross Owens, Elaine Ross Lee and Sheryl Ross of Clio, LA.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 2pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Gulfport.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
