Jerry Kenneth Mallett, Sr. age 83, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home in Gautier, Mississippi. Mr. Mallett was born in Biloxi, MS and lived his life along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He attended Perkinston Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant for over thirty-five years in Pascagoula, MS, first with Cecil Magee and Rouse, then with Wolfe, McDuff, Mallett & Co. and finally his own practice.
Mr. Mallett was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was involved in Leadership Jackson County and the Gulf Coast Chapter of CPAs, holding office as their president. He was a lifetime member of the Noon Lions Club, holding all offices multiple times. He was noted for Pancake Day feast always displaying the huge advertisement around town in the back of his red truck. He was also a lifetime member of BPOE Elks Lodge #1120 holding every office imaginable in the local and state arena.
He will long be remembered for his famous seafood gumbo which can never be replicated with the same satisfaction. He made this gumbo for years with his late wife Betty Mallett for the Elks, the GC Home Builders, and recently for family and friends. His love and generosity for his family were without question his most notable and admirable qualities, which will be forever missed and treasured. One thing that he instilled in all of his children was the work ethic of a great generation that was executed with inexhaustible diligence and energy in any task he pursued. He could melt the coldest heart of stone with the endearing words of "Hon" or "Sugar." Each person craved to hear those precious words spoken only to them in sweet moments; rarely did he disappoint.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Virda Delancey Mallett; his wife of 49 years, Betty V. Tiblier Mallett; son, Dr. Jerry Kenneth Mallett, Jr.; infant grandson, Samuel Mallett; brothers, Fred Mallett, Lamar Mallett, Rufus Mallett, Dave Mallett, Presley (Doc) Mallett, Harrell Mallett; sisters, Thelma Crosby, Ione Everett, Hilda Deane, and Virda Davis.
