Obituary

Jerry De Storey, 83, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, creativity, and a fierce devotion to those he loved. Born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming, alongside his seven siblings, Jerry served his country in the United States Air Force before ultimately settling in Gulfport to raise his family.

Jerry dedicated 54 years of his professional career to Northrop Grumman as the Facility Manager in Ocean Springs. Deeply passionate about his "work family," he became an unforgettable fixture at the SUNPLEX, welcoming everyone with his unique personality. He was an accomplished, highly respected leader committed to excellence and unwavering reliability. For over five decades, he served as the familiar, recognizable face of the SUNPLEX to everyone who passed through.

While Jerry was an exceptionally dedicated employee, his greatest devotion was always to his family. He and his wife, John Henry, were married in 1981 and remained inseparable throughout their 19 years together. Following her passing in 2000, his unwavering devotion to her memory never faded. He proudly wore his wedding ring until the very day of his passing - a quiet, beautiful symbol of an eternal and unbroken love.

In the decades following her death, Jerry channeled his heart into being the ultimate caretaker and anchor for his son, Todd, and his two grandsons, Gavan and Reagan. He helped his family tremendously in every way possible; he was a man who would absolutely do anything for his loved ones, routinely putting their needs above his own without a second thought. While his presence in their lives will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever live on in their hearts. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, selfless loyalty, and an unbreakable family bond.

The Storey family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the prayers, love, kindness, positive energy, and support shown during this difficult time.

Jerry was the beloved son of Lilly Marie Larsen and Robert William Story, whose memories he cherished throughout his life. He was also preceded in death by his wife, John Henry Storey, and his brothers, Bobby Story and Joseph Story.

A man who treasured his family above all, Jerry is survived by his devoted son, Todd Storey. His legacy continues through his grandsons, Gavan Storey and Reagan Storey, who brought him immense pride and happiness. Jerry was also a cherished brother to Larry (Karen) Story of Heyburn, ID, Annette (Gary) Naisbitt of Cedar Hills, UT, Chris (Irene) Story of Cheyenne, WY, Barbara Watson of Cortez, CO, and Danny (Hayne) Story of Eagle River, AK.
