Jerald Malcom

Jerald Malcom, age 83, and a resident of Vancleave, passed away on April 26, 2018 in Ocean Springs, MS. He was born on September 2, 1934 at his grandmother's home in Minco, Oklahoma.
He started his school years in a one room school house in the plains of Oklahoma where both of his parents were school teachers.
His career spanned over 40 years as a General Superintendent for Fletcher Construction. His talent to develop commercial properties included First Federal and Merchant Marine Banks, the original Ocean Springs Hospital, expansions of Singing River Hospital, Jackson County Courthouse, Fair Elementary, Ocean Springs Middle School, LSU Coliseum in Baton Rouge, and the Learning Resource Center at MGCCC, Jackson County Campus. After he retired from Fletcher Construction he worked as the building inspector for the City of Gautier.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing with his best friend, Ralph Jones. He coached youth softball and baseball in Gautier. In his later years he enjoyed helping family with home projects.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Hazel Malcom, and a daughter, Debra Malcom Hudson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Harriette Malcom; son, Justin Malcom (Connie); daughter, Julia Malcom; eight grandchildren, Adam, Lauren, Rachel, Jessica, Kelsey, Ariel, Whitney, and Travis; six great-grandchildren, Aiden, Gabe, Liam, Graham, Gracie, and Jenna; additional cherished family, Bob and Shari Terrell, Buddy and Joyce Wilson, Shirley Bedingfield; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd. at Washington Avenue, West Jackson County, from 5-7 PM. A memorial service will be held at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel. Bro. Brian Miller and Bro. Brian Pfeiffer will be officiating.
