Jennifer Elaine Johnson Cass passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the age of 54 in Waveland, Mississippi, with her family at her side after a six-month-long battle with cancer. She was born on December 3, 1971, in El Paso, Texas, the fourth of thirteen children, and lived in both El Paso and Waveland during her childhood. She graduated from Bay Senior High School in 1990, completed a Bachelor of Science degree at Brigham Young University in 1994 in the field of Geographic Information Systems, and completed graduate work in Instructional Media Design at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Jennifer had four beautiful children from her first marriage to Darin Austin Johnson, Gabrielle, Roren, Austin, and Coleman. During that time, she lived near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Huntsville, Alabama; Pass Christian, Mississippi; and Waveland, Mississippi. She had a career as a Business Analyst for various companies including Motorola and later as an Operations Manager. In 2014 she married Roger James Cass, and the family moved to Dayton, Ohio, later relocating to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she continued her passions in community theatre, children’s theatre, church, and school activities. Jennifer’s last four months were spent in Tampa, Florida receiving treatment at the Moffitt Cancer Center.
Jennifer was kind to all, a deep and true friend, and a fiercely devoted mother. A master at decorating and planning events, Jennifer was an avid thrift store shopper - a magician at finding bargains - and would turn whatever she had on hand into an amazing experience for all. She had an exceptional sense of style and was always well-dressed. She loved travel and adventures, and vacations that maximized new experiences. Jennifer was an amazing self-taught photographer, providing beautiful professional photos for every occasion; she documented every moment so not a bit would be forgotten.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Donith Johnson; stepfather, Vernon Ladner; sister, Eva Allison Johnson; and niece, Claudia Alexandria Timms. She is survived by her mother, Edith Elaine Ladner; husband, Roger James Cass; children, Gabrielle Elise Johnson, Roren Nicole Johnson, Austin Meredith Johnson, and Coleman Alexander Johnson; stepchildren, Brianne Marie Beauchamp (Michael), Rebecca Anne Smith (Adam), Richard James Cass (Amanda), and Kristina Lyn Cass; siblings, Michelle LaCour, Donith Johnson (Yvonne), Jessica Lewis (Matt), Megan McCardle (Tim), Ross Johnson (Tamara), Seth Johnson (Kelsey), Liz Muttschall (Brian), Skip Ladner, Paige Coward (Chris), Brad Ladner (Hebra), and Ashley Bourgeois (Gene); stepsiblings, Sandra Rhodes, Darlene Erwin (David), and Douglas Ladner (Karen); and a multitude of grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Jennifer has returned home to her Heavenly Father to be reunited with her eternal family and friends.
