Jeanette Martin Spradley, age 84 of Gulfport, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
Jeanette was born and grew up in Hancock County, MS, but lived most of her adult life in Gulfport. She had various interests over the years, including baseball, dancing and fishing, but the pastime that remained throughout her life was the love of sewing and quilting. Since retirement, she devoted much of her time to quilting for family and friends, and for many charitable events as well. She particularly enjoyed her Tuesday morning quilting group. Jeanette also enjoyed cooking daily, and her family always looked forward to her special Sunday lunches. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Andy Martin; mother, Dora Baker Martin Mitchell; brothers, Jefferson Walter Martin, William Rufus Martin and Herbert Ray Martin; sisters, Gladys Marie Martin, Edna Mae Sampson, and Virginia Charlene Ladner; and her daughter, Shirley Ann Spradley Norton.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Stanley Elias Spradley; daughter, Susan Spradley Pela and her husband Mike; grandchildren, Drew Martin Spradley, Emily Elizabeth Pela, John Michael Pela and his wife, Robyn; great-grandson, John Hopson Pela; and her sister, Frankie Threlkel.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with interment following at Evergreen Gardens Cemetery, Gulfport.
