Jeanelle Bates, 70, resident of Gulfport, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Bates was born in Harrison County and was a graduate of Dedeaux High School. She attended Pearl River Community College and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Vicksburg. She received her LPN license in Huntsville, AL and Associate of Nursing at MGCCC. Mrs. Bates was an registered nurse at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport and also worked at Scott-White Hospital in Belton, TX. She retired from the VA Hospital in Biloxi. Mrs. Bates was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Gulfport. Her passion was her family.
Mrs. Bates is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver J. and Eunice Cuevas Ladner; husband, Joseph Bates; stepsons, Ernest Ray Bates and Kevin Bates; sister, Alice Ladner and husband Jimmy; brothers, Judge Vernon Ladner, Edgar Jibert Ladner and Leland J. Ladner.
She is survived by her former husband, Ray Claude of Gulfport; son, Wayne Claude and fiance Molly Eckhoff of Gulfport; former daughter in law, Debbie Claude of TN; 2 step daughters, Sherrie Evans and husband Ben of Canyon, TX and Debbie Chadwick of Amarillo, TX; sisters, Elsie Cuevas and husband Gerald of Pass Christian, Judy L. Saucier of Jackson, MS and Joyce Mclemore of Gulfport; brothers, Eulice Ladner and wife Carolyn Fay of Pass Christian, Roland W. Ladner and wife Janelle of Necaise Crossing, W. Clifford Ladner and wife Dianne of Gulfport and Eddie E. Ladner and wife Renee of Oxford; sister in law, Judge Dianne Ladner of Pass Christian; Aunt, Sadie Lassabe of Long Beach; 5 nephews; 16 nieces; and 27 great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, October 6, 2006, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Gulf Coast Funeral Homes, Kiln Delisle Road Chapel, Pass Christian.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery at Rotten Bayou.
Gulf Coast Funeral Homes, Kiln Delisle Road, Pass Christian is in charge of arrangements.
