Jean Angela Gronmeyer, born on May 30, 1944, in Western New York, passed away on December 4, 2025, in Biloxi, Mississippi. She lived a life filled with dedication and passion, serving as a Speech Pathologist at Picayune Junior High after working for the IRS and the Census Bureau. Jean held a master's degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Southern Mississippi, which she earned after moving from her home in Western York to Washington, D.C. and then settling in Picayune, where her husband had a career at Stennis.
Jean was not just committed to her career but also had a deep love for animals. She volunteered regularly at the ASPCA Animal Rescue, embodying her passion for helping those in need. Throughout her life, she adopted and took care of multiple animals, showcasing her gentle spirit and nurturing personality.
In her free time, Jean cherished the outdoors and enjoyed hiking adventures, often collecting rocks along the way. Growing up on a farm, she developed a knack for making things from scratch and became an accomplished seamstress.
Jean is survived by her two sons, James Michael Gronmeyer (Carrie) and Larry Edward Gronmeyer (Jeanna), along with her beloved grandchildren: Kathryn Gronmeyer, Samantha Hall (Owen), Hayden Gronmeyer, and Brayden Gronmeyer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Kent Gronmeyer, and her parents, Edward and Juliane Moss. Jean's warmth, creativity, and love for the natural world and animals will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She will be buried in Griffins Mills Cemetery in West Falls, New York alongside her late husband.
