Janet Sue Heflin Smith, age 79, of Gulfport, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

Janet was born to Onree and Cara Heflin in Newton County.  She was a retired secretary from Bayou View Elementary School and enjoyed gardening and working in her flower beds. She loved Sunday brunch and a nice glass of champagne.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Lamar Smith; her daughter, Daphyne Smith; her parents; and her beloved Yogi.

She is survived by her children, Dawn Smith (Neal Olive) and Darren Smith (Sherri Carr Smith); siblings, David Heflin and Debra Moore; grandchildren, Michael Croal, Kelsie Croal, Sidnye Smith, and Conner Smith; and her beloved Callie.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 1:00-2:00 pm. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Patrick Sanders will follow at 2:00 pm.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of South Mississippi, www.hssm.org , and memories may be shared at www.riemannfamily.com .
