Janet Chapin, age 72, of Saucier, MS, went to be with her Lord on the morning of Thursday, July 16, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Vernon Wilder, Jr. of Gulfport. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Timothy Chapin. Her children, Jason Chapin and Aimee Chapin both of Saucier. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Swindell (Larry) of Athens, AL, and her grandson, River Chapin of Saucier.

Janet was a 1971 graduate of Gulfport High School. She worked over 20 years as the church secretary for O’Neal Road Church of Christ, formerly known as Orange Grove Church of Christ, in Gulfport. She also had a love for teaching elementary Sunday School and did so for many years. Janet had the gift of encouragement and a soft spot for the elderly. She is well known for her handmade greeting cards that she used to encourage and brighten the days of others. Her family and friends fondly remember her giving heart and infectious laughter.

The family wants to thank the staff of Memorial Hospital and UMMC for their compassionate care during her 3 week stay. Their unselfish care and heart will not be forgotten.
