Jane Anne Cavaroc Brenden, age 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 18, 2025. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on June 27, 1949.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John Louis Brenden; daughter, Laurie Anne Brenden of Auburn, Alabama; sisters, Evelyn Claire Cavaroc of Garner, North Carolina, and Marie Louise Cavaroc of Eugene, Oregon; cherished friends, Debbie Hill, Sharon Buker, and “Son” Court Hode; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Viosca Cavaroc and Evelyn Claire Hebert Cavaroc, and her brothers, Victor Viosca Cavaroc Jr. and John Peter Cavaroc.
Janie attended Louisiana State University, the University of Southern Mississippi, Gulf Coast Community College, and the University of South Alabama. She earned several nursing degrees and a Ph.D. in Education. Janie taught both nursing and psychology, and her leadership and love for her students profoundly impacted healthcare throughout the Gulf Coast. She retired as the Nursing Program Director at MGCCC Jackson County Campus.
Janie was not only an academic but also an artist, therapist, seasoned traveler, and devoted animal lover who inspired all she met. In her earlier years, she ran a ceramic business out of her garage and later a creative therapy business to help others heal. She also consulted on the book You Are Smarter Than You Think and worked with several Gulf Coast hospitals, assisting troubled adolescents. She loved reading, traveling, and especially visiting Disney World.
Janie and John’s journey together took them to Louisiana, California, Massachusetts, and finally back to Mississippi, where they made their home in Ocean Springs. She was a longtime member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
Her family is deeply grateful to all of Jane’s medical teams for their kindness and excellent care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on a later date.
Reception at 12:30 p.m. at Christus Victor Lutheran Church.
