Jan "JJ" Lofties

April 20, 1951 — November 1, 2025

Saucier, MS

Jan “JJ” Lofties, age 74, of Saucier, Mississippi, entered into eternal rest at home on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was born in Dallas, Texas, and made Mississippi her home where she built a lifetime of love, faith, and service to others.

JJ was preceded in death by her father, Dr. William H. Van de Grift; her father-in-law, Orval Lofties; her mother-in-law, Elena Mae Lofties-King; her father-in-law, Marshall King; and her nephew, Travis McNeil.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Gale Lofties; two daughters, Michelle (John) Nicholson, and Amy (Tan) Nguyen; her five beloved grandchildren, Mac Nicholson, Lilly Nicholson, Mason Nguyen, Ryland Nguyen, and Carter Nguyen; and Elaine and Joe Nall, Mike and Debra Lofties, and Debbie and Randy McNeil.

JJ served as a hospice chaplain for 16 years and deeply valued every life she touched through compassion, presence, and spiritual support. She genuinely believed God placed her in hospice as a calling of the heart to comfort, pray, and guide others during their most vulnerable moments. Recently becoming a member of the Catholic faith brought her peace, grounding, and joy in her final journey.

She enjoyed every moment spent with her family and friends and especially loved watching her grandchildren play sports. She proudly stood in the stands as their “team chaplain,” praying, cheering, and supporting every single child as if they were her own. Loving, selfless, witty, gentle, and strong, JJ made people feel seen, valued, and understood.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Lynn Scafidi, Deborah Fountain, and Marjean Burkhart for walking beside JJ through this difficult time. They also wish to thank all for the prayers, support, and kindness shown throughout her journey.

Her faith carried her home.
