James ""Jim"" Sidney Thrasher, age 78 of Gulfport, died Friday, October 16, 2015.
Mr. Thrasher served in the United States Air Force with Fire Protection Special Unit Rescue 571501. He was medically retired after 10 years. He was a life member of the VFW 4526, where he served as commander from 1989-1992. He was the owner of Coast Air Product, before joining Air Products of Gulfport. He loved to cook for family and friends and truly loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Emelda Thrasher; his son, Jimmy Ray Thrasher; his daughter, Diana ""DeeDee"" Thrasher; his parents, Sidney and Virgie Thrasher; and his sister, Marie McDaniel.
He is survived by his sons, Lynn (Marcie) Thrasher and Michael (Pat) Thrasher; his daughters, Annette Edgeworth, Bonnie (Bob) Mello, Connie (Al) Madden, Sherrill (Tony) Maloy, and Jackie Armour; his brother, Billy (Brenda) Thrasher; his sister, Peggy (Larry) Fergusion; and a bushel of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM with a funeral service beginning at 2:30 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
