James ""Jim"" C. Swiatowy, 75, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in Biloxi. ""Dad got his wings today. Fly Dad, fly! Go be with our Maker and your bride. You leave the legacy of a beautiful love story.""
Mr. Swiatowy had been a resident of Biloxi since 1982 and was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan.
He retired after 27 years of service from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant, serving in Vietnam and 18 years in Europe. He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with One Device, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon with One Oakleaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal (Army) with One Device, Longevity Service Award with Five Oakleaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with One Battlestar, Outstanding Unit Award with One Oakleaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (AF) with Five Oakleaf Clusters, and the Overseas Longtour Ribbon.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Wiltrude ""Trudy"" Swiatowy, and his parents, Casimer and Rose Lobraco Swiatowy. Jim is survived by his five children, Michael Swiatowy (Darla) of Ocean Springs, Anna Swiatowy of Biloxi, Margaret Taylor (Jeff) of Owasso, OK, Maryann Grasich (Perry) of Owasso, OK, and John Swiatowy (Arie) of Purvis; nine grandchildren, Felicia, Shane, Seth, James, Jeremy, Joey, Kenny, Daniel and Kellie; his only great-granddaughter, Makayla; sister, Mary Swiatowy; brother, Mike Swiatowy; niece, Missy; and nephew, Todd, all of Milwaukee.
To honor Jim's love for children at Christmastime, we ask that in lieu of flowers, a gift be given to a child in need.
