James ""Jim"" P. Roth, 94, of Ocean Springs, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 in Ocean Springs.
Jim was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 26, 1922 to the late George and Catherine Mooney Roth. In 1942 he joined the 2nd Marine Division and served three years in the South Pacific. He was in battles in Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. On returning home, he studied industrial design at the Philadelphia College of Art and Cranbrook Academy. After college he moved to southern California and worked for industrial designer, Henry Dreyfuss, designing for John Deere and Bell Telephone. Jim worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding as a Senior Engineer until retirement. Jim enjoyed sailing and making things better. He volunteered at the Ocean Springs Library after he retired. A great guy who will be missed.
Jim married Charlotte Nix in 1953 and they have two children, Tom Roth (Lisa) and Lynn Sonnenberg; three grandchildren, Michael Krauss (Laura), Tiffany Roth Ayres (Auston) and Cheyenne Roth; and three great-grandchildren, Colton and Logan Ayres, and James Krauss.
