James L. "Sandy" Rogers

James L. ""Sandy"" Rogers, age 72, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 in Gulfport.
He was a Vice President/Relationship Manager of public funds for Hancock Bank. He began his banking career at Merchants Bank, where he spent 25 years as a Senior Vice President. He went on to become CEO for Gulf Coast Community Federal Credit Union for 5 years, before his move to Hancock Bank. Mr. Sandy was a member of Michael Memorial Baptist Church in Gulfport and dedicated his career to serving many civic organizations across the coast. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, collecting antiques, hunting and fishing, and countless other hobbies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion ""Buddy"" Rogers and Evelyn Frazier Rogers; brother, Buster Rogers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janet Ladner Rogers of Gulfport, MS; daughter, Rachel Rogers Branch (David) of Gulfport; son, Nathan Shawn Rogers (Brandy) of Ecru; sister, Barbara Ferris of Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren, Brook Forrester, Hunter Crowley, Rylan Rogers, Julianna Branch, and Parker Branch.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM Monday, August 29, 2016 at Michael Memorial Baptist Church, 15053 John Clark Rd, Gulfport. A visitation will be on Monday at 11:00AM until 1:00PM at the church. A burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Gulfport. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, served the family.
The family would like to thank all the staff and physicians in the Progressive Care Unit at Memorial Hospital for the outstanding care he received.
