James Aven Peterson Sr. of Dedeaux Community was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 3, 2014.
James was a lifelong resident of Dedeaux Community. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dedeaux. James retired after 28 years as a heavy equipment mechanic for Harrison County. After retiring he drove a bus for Harrison County School District and also ran his mechanic shop.
James was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Percy Peterson; his father and mother, Aven and Ethel; his brothers, Mack, Hayward, Maven and CJ; brothers-in-law, Jon and BJ and several nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his loving wife and caretaker, Ruth; his children, Jamie (Marsha), Kelvin (Priscilla), Anita (Gerald), Darren (Kelli), Angela (Jon), Karen (Dewayne), Brian (Ashleigh), Sherele (Dawayne), Brandy (Wes) and Randy (Taylor); his grandchildren, Lucille, James, Chantal, Kelvin II, Kaden, Kyan, Devin, Ashley, Alexis, Dylan, Hannah, Kailey, AnnaKate, Lilly and Landyn; one great-grandchild, Noah and one due in October; his brothers, David, Bill, Jessie and Donnie; his sisters, Helen, Lois, Lou and Linda and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014, beginning at 6pm at the home of Brian and Ashleigh (16600 Bell Creek Road; Pass Christian, MS 39571).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dedeax. Burial will follow at Standard Sandhill Cemetery.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln Delisle Road in Pass Christian, served the family.
