James Howard Norton, age 73, of Gulfport, passed away on August 11, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Maria Norton; his parents, Clarence Otto Norton and Lola Mae Norton; his brothers, Joel Norton and Michael Norton.
He is survived by his Children, Deana Burns (Mark), Jason Norton (Betsy), and Sarah Norton; his grandchildren, Lauren Burns, Toby Norton, Brent Norton, and Caleb Norton; his brother Dale Norton; his sister Dyann Fleming; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Norton was a man of steadfast faith, he served faithfully as a Deacon of Community Baptist Church, putting God first in his life setting an example of humility, kindness, and devotion for all who knew him.
He was a proud father and grandfather and at the heart of his life was the love he shared with his wife of 52 years, Maria. He cherished her deeply and took great pride in the life they built together.
Mr. Norton was a fitter welder and quality control manager before he retired. He found great joy in the simple blessings of life. He loved fishing and hunting, and could often be found mowing and tending to his yard with care and pride.
Above all, he was proudest of his family. He cherished his children and grandchildren, celebrating their lives with unwavering love, encouragement, and wisdom.
Though he will be deeply missed, his quiet strength, gentle humor, and guidance will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and beautiful memories.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 5 - 7 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 11 am Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Johnson-Bethel Cemetery.
