On October 22, 2009 our Lord, Jesus Christ, called upon James """"Tommy"""" Quitman Moran, of Long Beach, age 80, to sit beside him at His throne. Mr. Moran was called to Heaven to ease his battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Moran was born October 17, 1929 in Gulfport and was a long-time resident of Long Beach. He was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Army. He served as Chief of Security for the U.S. Naval Retirement Home in Gulfport. He was a Mason, a member of the VFW and DAV of Gulfport and the American Legion, Joe Graham Post.
Mr. Moran was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret C. Moran; daughter, Tina M. Crayden; and brother, Wallace A. Moran.
Survivors include his daughters, Judith A. East of Long Beach, Lisa C. Anton and husband, George E. of Baton Rouge, LA, and Donna C. Burchett of Louisville, KY; sons, Stephan F. Sparks of Baton Rouge, Richard J. Crayden and wife, Susan of Saucier, Stephen C. Crayden and wife, Angelica of Pass Christian, and Norman L. Crayden and wife, Lisa of Baton Rouge; sister, Helen A. Jacob; 10 grandchildren, Thomas C. East III and Keith M. East, both of Long Beach, William and Wesley Crayden, both of Saucier, Kaitlyn Anton and Andrew Crayden, both of Baton Rouge, and Joshua, Chris, Mykela and Chelsea Burchett, all of Louisville, KY; and 3 great-grandchildren, Brandon T. and Cameron L. East, both of Long Beach, and David Paul Jones of Covington, LA.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2009 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 25 in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
