James Thomas Moody

James Thomas Moody, Sr., Jim to family, JT to Seabee family, 71, passed away after a long battle with heart disease on February 16th at the Biloxi VA Medical Center.
He was born in Seattle, Washington on March 11, 1944. He graduated from West Seattle High School in 1962, then started his life and career in the Navy. He served with pride for twenty years, including service in Vietnam, before retiring EA1 with an honorable discharge in Gulfport, MS. He was Volunteer Fire Department Chief/EMT in Rhode Island and member of the Orange Grove Volunteer Fire Department in Gulfport, MS. He earned a Business degree from Phillips College and Master's Degree from William Carey College. After retirement, he was actively involved with the Veterans of Foreign War (All American Post Commander), American Legion, and Seabee Veterans of America (National Service Officer) Island X-3.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Patricia Moody of Seattle, Washington. He is survived by his wife, June E. Moody of Gulfport, MS, son James (Robin) Moody Jr. of Laurel, MS, daughter Amijune (Michael) Cotton of Conroe, TX; grandchildren Emma Moody Gulfport, Joshua, Lyndi, Samuel, and Elizabeth Cotton of Conroe, TX; siblings Sharon (Ralph) Herth of Desert Aire, WA, Marilyn (Robert) Keisling of Olympia, WA, Richard (Sue) Moody of Olympia, WA, Barbara (James) Edwards of Seattle, WA, as well as many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2016, from 4pm until 6pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016, at 9:45am in the funeral home chapel, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, with military honors to be rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
