James C. Meek, age 94, passed away on October 1, 2019 in Gulfport, MS. He was born in 1925 in Gulfport, MS to the late William Henry Meek and Lucy O'Donnell Meek.
Mr. Meek was a World War II veteran of the US Army. He received the European, African, and Middle Eastern Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, ETO Ribbon, two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Purple Heart.
For the majority of his career he worked as an accountant for Olin Corporation in Gulfport. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gulfport.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanell Meek; and two brothers, Everette F. Meek and William H. Meek, Jr.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Misallati (Faraj) of Gulfport, Linda Delacruz (Elias) of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Layla Misallati and Yusef Misallati; three great-grandchildren Gavin Misallati, Bella Misallati, Elijah Monroe all of Gulfport; three children by marriage, Sharon Wiseman (Jack), Craig P. Lawrence (Dana), and Carla Higgins (Mike); numerous other relatives; and his beloved cat Sissy.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 10-11 AM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at Evergreen Cemetery.
