James Lunsford

Capt. James V. ""Jim"" Lunsford, age 80, of Long Beach, passed away on August 13, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Joan Alice Lunsford, and a brother, Tom ""Uncle Shorty"" Lunsford.
His children, Debra (John) Rogers, Kirby (Kim) Lunsford, Gary (Shelly) Lunsford, Corinne (Rick) Buchholz, his beloved grandchildren, Rebecca (Adam) Levesque, Jason (Caroline) Rogers, Tiffany (Paul) Hamiti, Jamie (Larry) Paige, and Jimmy (Stephanie) Lunsford. Zach (Mary) Lunsford, Chase (Kristen) Lunsford, Jake (Promise) Donald, Charity Joan (Ben) Buchholz, and Jeremy (Molly) Buchholz, seventeen precious great-grandchildren, a brother, Doc (Polly) Lunsford, 2 sisters, Lois Stutts and Marty McPherson, a sister-in-law, Bernice (Cecil) Wilson, his nieces, Susan Lyon, Diane (David) Leger, and Sharon and Mark Hasselman and many wonderful great-nieces and nephews. Also, a very special part of his extended family, Guy Billups, Jr., Betty, Guy III, Josephine, Lamar, Walter Billups and other members of the Billups family and Johnny Korpita, Sonny Middleton, Reggie Johnson, Capt. Adam, Jelly, David, and Kevin.
Capt. Jim lived in Long Beach since 1968 and retired as a Big Game Sports Fishing Boat Captain. In 2015, he was awarded the Billfish Captain of the Year and he also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Big Game Fishing Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 17, 2016, from 6 - 8 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The family requests that everyone wear their favorite Guy Harvey shirt or any fishing attire!
The family would like to thank the MHG Infusion Clinic, the Boyington Rehab Center, especially Randy, his grandson, Jeremy Buchholz for taking care of his pawpaw, and all of his fishing buddies for their love and support.
