James M. "Mac" Lizana

James M. ""Mac"" Lizana, age 92, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen R. Lizana; his parents, John and Emma Lizana; his brother, Bill Lizana; and his sisters, Julia Strong and Caroline Thurman.
He is survived by his children, Helen Jean Lizana Husley (Durrell) of Gautier, James E. ""Gene"" Lizana (Joan) of Pass Christian, Wallace Lizana (Cinda) of Gulfport, and John D. Lizana (Brenda) of Gulfport; his grandchildren, Diana Slusher, Pam Griffin, James C. ""Cid"" Lizana, Jana Lizana Sanasac, Janell Boudreaux, Jason Lizana, Stephanie Lizana, and Miranda Lizana; his great grandchildren, Lisa, Laura, Lindsey, Jesee, Casey, Austin, Aaron, Courtney, Jeffrey, Jessica, Alex, and Dylan; and his great-great grandchildren, Trischelle, Kayla, Audrey, Dylan, Ashleigh, Kennedy, Ella Rae, and Lathan.
Mr. Lizana served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and participated in the Pacific invasion of Okinawa and the Guadalcanal Campaigns. He retired in 1978 as a Pipefitter Foreman from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 34 years of service. Mac and Helen owned and operated Helen's Trailer Park on Landon Road.
He was a founding member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Gulfport and an active member of the Parish Council and building committee. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2539, Gulfport, where he and Helen enjoyed fellowship and dancing.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Depew Road, Gulfport. Burial will follow at Evergreen Gardens, Gulfport.
