James "Eddie" Freeman

James “Eddie” Freeman, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 5, 2025.

He was born April 19, 1933, in Miami, Florida, to Edward and Myrna Freeman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two grandsons. He is survived by his wife, one brother, six children and four generations of grandchildren.

A man of faith, steady love, and boundless pride in his family, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, music, and devotion.

Eddie was a Navy Veteran where he gained his electrician education and served on the ship USS Witek.

A proud member of the IBEW 1205, he traveled the country as an electrician and helped build landmarks such as Epcot at Walt Disney World and the World Trade Center. His work stands as a testament to his skill and dedication. Outside of his trade, he was a gifted musician who played steel guitar—even performing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. He played music at the Shriners Big River Jamboree for 17 years, with the Surefire band as well as the Sound of Joy gospel group.

Faith was the cornerstone of his life. As an ordained deacon and devoted Christian, he found joy in sharing Bible stories and wisdom with his grandchildren. He also found joy in cheering for his beloved Florida Gators football team.

For 57 years, he shared an undeniable and enduring love with his wife, Christine Minton Freeman. He was immensely proud of his children, grand and great-grandchildren, and his greatest happiness came from the many stories and memories he shared with his family.
