Obituary

James Frederick Childs
April 6, 1976 – August 5, 2026

James Frederick Childs, age 50, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A lifelong resident of Biloxi, Freddie spent many years working as a bartender at the IP Casino Resort & Spa before completing his education and achieving his dream of becoming an Environmental/Natural Resource Specialist with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

Freddie had a deep love for marine biology and the natural world. He especially enjoyed growing coral and maintaining the saltwater aquariums that he proudly designed and built himself. Meticulous by nature, Freddie approached everything he did with care and precision. Whether at work, tending to his aquariums, or taking on a project at home, he took great pride in making sure every detail was just right.

Freddie also had a special place in his heart for animals and was especially devoted to his beloved dogs, Riley and Ollie.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Renee Childs; his mother, Cheryl Lemon Childs; and his beloved dog, Samson.

He is survived by his father, James M. Childs; Charlie (Bryan Gilly) Parker McDevitt; Diane (Harold) Lemon Catchot; Anthony Wayne Childs; Andie Jean Childs; Hannah (Jake Campbell) Parker; Darrell (Rachel) Parker; Lisa Hood; Lynn Rogers; his lifelong friend, Ken Lawrence; and many other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Freddie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through the lives he touched, the friendships he treasured, and the love he shared with those around him.
