James (Jim) Lawrence Craig, passed away Wednesday, December 4th in Gulfport, MS. Jim was born in Waterloo, Iowa on July 1, 1936, to Beulah and William Craig and resided in Gulfport, MS for 19 years. He married his loving wife of 52 years, Grace Steege, on May 3, 1961.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers; William (Bill), Richard (Dick), Tom, and Bob Craig and a sister; Monica Cashman.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; his son, James M Craig (Brandy); a grandson, Braden Craig of Biloxi and granddaughter; Madison Craig of Fairhope, AL. He is also survived by his brothers; Roger and Ed Craig of Waterloo, IA and Pat Craig of Cedar Falls, IA. He is also survived by his sisters; Marie Schlorff of Waterloo, IA, Florence Gaffney of Des Moines, IA, JoAnne Rathjen of Mason City, IA, Kathleen Jensen of Cameron, WI and Charlene Dahlin, of Isanti, MN.
Jim was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Gulfport. By trade he was a golf professional and a life member of Professional Golf Association of America. Upon retiring from the golf business he worked at Home Depot in Gulfport and in his spare time pursued his passion for woodworking. He enjoyed volunteering his time to the Red Cross, and for the past 16 years ran the St. Joseph's, Knights of Columbus blood drive.
Services will be Saturday, December 7, 2013 with visitation at 12 pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gulfport. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 pm. His family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport assisted the family with arrangements.
