James Vincent Cerra, Major, USAF ""Ret."" passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the age of 94.
James, at the age of 5, immigrated to the United States with his family and settled in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. He entered the military shortly after high school and retired in 1964 settling in his wife's hometown of Pass Christian. He entered the field of education and served in several capacities in the Harrison County School District before retiring. During his life in Pass Christian he was active in several civic organizations.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Hanson Cerra; his parents, Pasquale and Angelina; and brothers, Sam, Anthony and Dominick. He is survived by his children, Catherine C. Myers, Ann C. Shirley (Ray) and James Cerra, Jr. (Marcy); six grandchildren, Jennifer Williams (Ben), James Cerra III (Laura), Charles Shirley, Julie Myers, Jodie Lutz (Robert), Eric Nicholas Cerra (Bailee); three great-grandchildren, Gage Williams, Noah Williams and James Cerra IV; and two sisters, Jennie Cerra Coar and Anne Cerre DePietro.
Friends are invited to join the Cerra family for the Graveside Service with military honors at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 18th at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian.
