James E. Cade, age 74 of Long Beach, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010, in Biloxi.
He served in the US Navy Seabees from 1954-1974, with NMCB 10 & 11, ACB 2, and NMCB 7 & 74. He retired from NMCB 74.
After retiring from the Navy, he worked all over the Coast as a carpenter. He enjoyed working in his shop doing woodworking projects for his family. In his later years, he also spent a lot of time tending his plants and feeding the birds that visited his yard. He could always be found enjoying a good book each evening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mabel Cade; his brothers, Max and Larry Cade; his daughter, Barbara Brechtel and his granddaughter, Gerri Brechtel.
Mr. Cade is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Ruby Cade of Long Beach; his children, Janet (Darrel) Compton of Gulfport, Danny Cade of Gulfport, Lori (Scott) Foster of Saucier, Jerry (Millie) Cade of Big Point, and Robert (Melissa) Cade of Saucier; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, his sisters, Patricia Smith of Wichita KS and Billie Hurtiz of KS; his brother, Jerry (Karen) Cade of Wichita KS, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 12'Noon at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
