With deep sorrow, we share the news of the passing of our beloved family member, whose gentle spirit and unwavering kindness enriched our lives beyond measure. He left us on Friday, November 14, 2025, leaving an enduring legacy of strength and commitment to duty as well as love and treasured memories.
James Sydney Burch was born on September 11, 1978, to Christopher and Isabella Burch of Gulfport, Mississippi. He filled the home with love and laughter and was always the life of the party. He loved spending time with family and cherished his wife, his children, and his grandchildren.
He has three natural children, James, Caleb, and Noelle Burch. On June 24, 2019, he was united in marriage to Megan (Marisco) Burch. From this union, he gained three stepchildren, Hannah, Leland, and Khloe. He was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren, Emory James Burch, daughter of James and Kennedy Burch, and Nolan Atlas Spann, Callum Reuben Burch and Melody Leighton Burch, children of Caleb and Mattie Burch.
James had a prominent career in law enforcement spanning over 20 years and was well known and respected.
James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sydney and Lydia Burch and Otto and Ericka Binder; four uncles, Donald and Sonny Burch and Richard and Otto Binder; a niece, Macie Wheelock; and a cousin Penny Burch.
James is survived by his wife, Megan Burch of Saucier, Mississippi; children, James (Kennedy) Burch of Wiggins, Mississippi, Caleb (Mattie) Burch of Saucier, Mississippi and Noelle Burch of Covington, Louisiana; stepchildren, Hannah Lang and Khloe Steube both of Saucier, Mississippi, and Leland Steube of Pass Christian, Mississippi; father and mother, Christopher and Isabella Burch of Gulfport, Mississippi; sister, Dianna (Richard) Breece of Saucier, Mississippi; brother, Mark (Rhonda) Burch of Nebraska; and aunt, Becky (Kenneth) Jackson of Bowman, South Carolina; uncle, Richard (Amy) Burch of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and aunt, Christina Ratcliff of Gulfport, Mississippi; nieces and nephews, David Kelley, Michael and Heather Breece of Gulfport, Rylan Burch and Cassie Ratcliff of Biloxi, Kerry (Alan) Wheelock of Germany, David Ratcliff of Mobile, Alabama, as well numerous cousins spanning across the United States and as a close circle of friends who will hold his memory close in their hearts.
Though we grieve, we are grateful for the love, wisdom, and joy James brought to our lives. His spirit remains with us always, a guiding light and source of comfort. May he rest in peace.
