James Richard Bailey, Sr., age 82 of Saucier, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 in Biloxi, MS.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Jefferson Bailey; his mother, Gladys Ora Whitworth; and his brother, Howard Bailey.
James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Bailey; children, James "Richard" Bailey, Jr. (Melissa), Janie Schoppe (Eddie), JD Torries (Shannon), Regina Hansen (Bob), Jewell Torries (Christine); his sister, Charlene Dunavant; and grandchildren, Anthony Deckert, Jaimee Bailey, Jacob Bailey, Mackenzie Strong, Aimee Strong, Andrew Hansen, and numerous step grandchildren.
He was a native of Drummonds, Tennessee and spent 8 years in the Marine Corp before serving 12 years in the US Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He received numerous awards in the military including the Bronze Star Award and Airman of the Month. James loved fishing, camping, and reading.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warriors Fund.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home chapel. The burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
