James Edward "Butch/Jim" Athanaelos, Jr. (1950-2021)

Jim Athanaelos, age 71, passed away May 27, 2021. He was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina and lived in Gulfport Mississippi. He is the son of James E. Athanaelos, Sr. and Thelma F. Craig. Jim was schooled in MS. He graduated from Bay St. Louis High School, obtained his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), and a master's degree from William Carey College in Business Administration. Jim spent the majority of his career with the Harrison County Utility Authority.

In addition to his father and mother, Jim is preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Craig and stepbrother, Steven Oliver.

Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia Drake, his stepmother, Joan Athanaelos, his aunt, Phyllis Burch, stepsister, Carolyn Turner, and numerous cousins.

A graveside service will be held in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one's favorite charity in Jim's name.
