Jackie "Cowboy" Broadus

December 12, 1948 — July 30, 2016

Jackie ""Cowboy"" Broadus, age 67, born December 12, 1948, passed on from this life on July 30, 2016.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brandon Broadus; Father, Jack (Herbert) Broadus; Mother, Elizabeth Loper Broadus; Sister, Judith ""Judy"" McKay; Granddaughter, Autumn Daly; Niece, Deonna Hester; Grandparents, Buster (Lorenzo Leroy) & Irene Shaw Broadus, and Rex ""Pete"" & Ola Lee ""Sook"" Loper.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, DeLone Mariano Broadus; his son, Shane Strickland (Jennifer); daughter, Heather Broadus Howell (David); great-grandson and very best friend, Braden Daly; grandson, Tristan Slade; two sisters, Nancy Guidry and Carla Broadus (Lance); stepdaughter, Rachel Bell; stepson, David Steece; and four new grandchildren who will never have the pleasure of knowing him. As well as other family & great friends.
Jackie joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 17 and served 2 years during the Vietnam War. He then went to work for Local 1303 Longshoreman Assc. where he retired from many years later. Not one to sit around, he then went to work for the Harrison County Sandbeach Commission and later for the City of Pass Christian where he retired again in 2013. Then decided he was ready to get at it again, where he and Shane worked together for the last 3 years.
He loved riding his Harley, or steel horse as he called it, with his wife and Southern Coast Riders as a charter member for 12 years, where he made many great friends who quickly became family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, but nothing made him smile as big as the time he & Braden shared, the apple of his eye.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa and lastly, a loving son.
When his Dad and then his Mom became ill, he along with DeLone, took wonderful care of both of them until their passing with unfaltering love.
His wish was that when it was his time to go, to go quickly. He didn't want to be a burden to anyone. Well, he had a great last day here on earth. He started off his day as usual having coffee out on the porch with his son, Shane and then off to Workmans for a cold beer and good times.
There will never be another like him. RIP Cowboy. You'll be missed by so many.
