Jack R. Worgan, age 88 from Slidell, LA, passed away at home May 12, 2016.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bertha Worgan; companion, Janet Sommers; sister, Joan Quinn; ex-wife, Thelma Baird Worgan; and three grandchildren, Steve B. Powell, Jr., Lewis A. Powell, and Jean Marie Worgan.
He is survived by his children, Cathy Worgan Bort (Mark), Paul Worgan, Richard Worgan, Nancy Worgan Willman (Joseph), Kenneth Worgan (Tammy); grandchildren, Richard Brian Powell, Catrina Powell Ladner (Heath), Jack Hebert (Brooke), Scott Hebert (Stephanie), Jessica Willman, Jennifer Willman Fenore (Keith), Amy Willman, and James E. Ray (Victoria), Kenneth Worgan, Jr. (Lyndzee), Amanda Worgan Gibson (Austin), Ashlynn Worgan; great grandchildren, Isis Baillio, Christian Fenore, Athran Hebert, Calvin Hebert, Gavin Powell, Ethan Powell, Angelina Powell, and Aiden Powell; and Orville the orangutan,
Jack was a native of Pittsburg, PA and resided in Slidell, LA. He was a recipient multiple Master degrees and worked as an Aerospace Mechanical Engineer with NASA. At 12 years old he was running the stockroom at GC Murphy, and at 13 he was running locomotives with his dad. He worked at the Chrysler Corporation as an Engineer assisting in the development of racing engines and retired in 1998 from the Stennis Space Administration in Bay St. Louis. Jack enjoyed laughing, dancing, Margaritas, camping, tubing on the river, traveling abroad, and most of all, spending time with his friends and family. He loved animals and daily fed the birds and squirrels in his back yard. He was a very generous donor to the Humane Society and Cancer research, as well as other charities.
A visitation will be held from 9-11 AM on Monday, May 16, 2016, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with burial at Free Church of God Cemetery following the service.
