Dr. Jack Lester Liggett, Jr., DVM (92) died at home on Friday, July 21 in Bay St. Louis, MS surrounded by family and friends. Jack resided in Bay St. Louis for the last year and a half with his daughter Lisa and son Glenn.  He was born in Chicago, IL to parents Mable Syme Liggett and Lester Glenn Liggett. His family moved to Palm Beach when he was a young child and where he lived for the majority of his life.  He received a BS from the University of Florida and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University.  Jack had veterinary practices for over 60 years in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach.

He is preceded by his parents, his wife and mother of his beloved children, Grace Catherine Boutilier Ligget, former wife, Jacqueline Liggett, and sister D. Jean Larrabee. Jack is survived by his daughter Lisa Ellen Liggett of Bay St. Louis, MS, his son Glenn Lester Jack Liggett of New Orleans, LA, sister Glenda Reid of Stuart, FL, nephew Robert T. Reid, Jr. of Stuart, FL, niece Christine (Lee) Terry of Sebring, FL, niece Susan (Shaun) Abrams of West Palm Beach, FL, nephew Robert (Linda) Larrabee of North Carolina, numerous great nieces and nephews and his loving dog, Jake. 

Jack was a member of the Palm Beach Yacht Club, West Palm Beach Fishing Club, Sailfish Club of Florida, Chaîne de Rôtisseurs, Brotherhood of the Knights of Vine, and the International Food and Wine Society.  He was a member of numerous veterinary organizations and was featured in Palm Beach Life Magazine as one of the top veterinarians.  Throughout his life, he owned Quarter Horses and Standard Breds, and “Gentle Stroke” won many races.  Jack was an avid fisherman and held Blue Marlin and Tuna world records. Jack was a diehard sports fan and an inaugural season ticket holder of the  Miami Dolphins.  He will be remembered by family and friends for his generous spirit, dry wit, zest for life, and for his devoted care to his patients.

The family will have a private celebration of life and ask that in lieu of flowers to make a donation to your local SPCA.
